Baha Mar
Climate Friendly Travel

A More Sustainable Stay Starts Here

Every guest at Baha Mar leaves a footprint and an opportunity. Climate change is already impacting The Bahamas through rising seas, coral bleaching, and stronger storms. But together, we can restore the ecosystems that protect our islands and support a healthier planet. We invite you to take part in our climate commitment by supporting two powerful, nature-based solutions:

Mangrove Restoration – led by the Bahamas National Trust
Coral Reef Recovery – led by the Perry Institute for Marine Science

Your Carbon Footprint

Offsetting the carbon footprint of your stay helps regenerate the ecosystems that make The Bahamas extraordinary.

CARBON COST

What’s the Carbon Cost of a Night at Baha Mar? On average, one night at a luxury resort generates approximately 460 kg CO₂ per guest from energy use, air conditioning, water heating, transportation, and more.

OFFSET GOAL

Just 1 mature mangrove can absorb up to 300 kg of CO₂ over its lifetime, while 1 m² of healthy coral reef supports biodiversity, reduces wave energy, and contributes to long-term carbon cycling.

OFFSET CALCULATOR

Offset Calculator
(Interactive/Visual Suggestion):
3 nights stay = ~1,380 kg CO₂
Offset with: 1 mangrove + 1 m² coral
Suggested donation: $15–$25

Where Your Gift Goes

Your Contribution Supports These Local Climate Champions
Bahamas Mangrove Alliance
Restores vital mangrove forests that: protect coastlines from erosion and storm surges, serve as nursery grounds for fish and conch, and sequester carbon from the atmosphere.
Perry Institute for Marine Science
Corals serve as barriers to storm surge caused by extreme weather events caused by climate change. Perry Institute is focused on reviving coral reefs through coral nurseries and out planting, research to fight coral disease, community training in reef stewardship.
